The last few weeks have proven to be anything but simple.
Prior to June 30th Jacob and I hardly given the thought of buying a house 10 minutes, but going to an open house "just for fun" opened a whole new can of worms. Here we are three weeks later with an accepted offer on a different house, and all the rig-a-ma-roll that goes with it.
This week marks the 37th week of my pregnancy which means that little baby Jr. could arrive at any time. An ultrasound earlier this week showed our baby's weight to be over 6lbs already, and my Dr.'s comment was "now we just have to wait". Although most everything is ready for the baby, in terms of material goods (bed, clothes, diapers), I still fell unprepared and anxious at times. In the last few days I thankfully have been feeling much more ready and even have begun to hope it will come soon.
As if a new house and a new baby aren't enough excitement for one month (or two), we also got the results from my husband's allergy tests back on Monday. I figured he'd show a dairy and gluten intolerance of some sort, but what I wasn't expecting was the extensive list we did receive. Avoid wheat, gluten, dairy, soy, basil, onions, egg plant, plums, and sweet potatoes for at least 6 months due to an extreme intolerance. Avoid almonds, cashews, bananas, blueberries, peaches, garlic, cinnamon, tomatoes, cucumbers, and cauliflower for 3-6 months due to an intermediate intolerance. Whoa!!!
Needless to say I've been doing quite a bit of research on allergen free diets and have a stack of books from the library to read. I feel like being just gluten and dairy free would be a piece of cake a this point, and just gluten free would be a Sunday stroll in the park. I can't wait until 3-6 months from now when we can try reintroducing some of these foods. However, due to celiac running in the family I doubt we'll ever abandon gluten-free, and will probably retain some dairy limitations as well. I pray soy goes away. Oh please oh please!!!!
